Crazy Race Weekend With the Stiff Muscle

BSN PNM is followed up with KOTR with only less than 4 hours of sleep in between. In total it would be around 37.8km, good enough to emulate a marathon distant. Another reason why I was all up for it. If it was up to my training alone, I will never be able to go this far.

Lucky I managed to sleep the night before, I thought I wouldnt. I always have trouble sleeping with high endorphin level. Alhamdulillah I managed. Woke up before the alarm rang. Prepared myself and had even managed to perform solat tahajjud and hajat. Prepared my pumping stuff, as I did not get to do it the night before since it was just washed and were still wet. Left home at 6 as targetted. Perfect plan.

I used the NKVE to bypass the traffic light. Upon reaching the roundabout after sdmc, my plan failed. The road was closed. My hope of getting onto the upper levels car park crushed. I knew I can go through sunway, was thinking of parking near sports planet subang, but figured it would be quite dark there and it would be quite a distance to the starting line. So I moved on together with other cars through the road behind sunway hotel area. I had to park at the roadside as the time was almost up and traffic was heavy and there seemed to be no chance that a parking area is in sight. I had to run to the starting line and didn't manage to do a proper warmup. Good thing I was not expecting much for this race. I know I wont be able to break anything much after my half the day before.

It was quite some distance to the starting line. And it was quite good as well having the whole stretch in front of sunway pyramid for yourself. I was far from the starting line.and the crowd was huge. You simply couldnt move much. Which is good as well as it can serve as speed dampener.

The nicest thing about the race was that it was totally stress free. I dont have any specific target but it would be good if I can have better pacing than my lsd. My run was almost zombie like, simply ran forward at whatever pace that I felt like running. The only conscious control I put into the run was for me to not get carried away and moved too fast.

Moments after the top runners passed by, I saw karsten ran by strongly after just few runners in front. I never knew he can run so fast. Later at home I checked on his scklm result, and he had recorded a superb timing.

I cant imagine that I actually know someone with that kind of timing. This means his pace is around 4.44 throughout the whole 42 km. I cant even pull out a 4.45 for 1 km tempo.

It was quite enjoyable until after km 10 I think that I know that my muscles have started to give in. I find it difficult to push my legs further and I. But it was nothing serious. But it's something that I dont quite expect. I just ensured that I was not to the extent of having to walk. I lost track of my pacing towards the end. Ot went as bad as 7 ish range in the end. Having the night before's finisher tee kind of gave a big excuse for me. But still towards the end I took over quite a number of ppl. Be it the 10km runners, I think a lot were like me, went to both races. I managed to sprint towards rhe finishing line but it was too crowded and I did not manage to have a clear path ahead. After the finishing line, I was expecting something good if not awesome like what Quman has described the year before. But it was nothing fancy really. Got my medal, finished off the banana, took a cup of milo and straight away I left the venue for home. And the legs has started to get even heavier. While leaving the starting line, a man managed to ask about my timing, apparently he went to bsn pnm as well. And he even asked how did I do for the PNM. His was not too bad, I think around 2.15 range.

As I was heading out, I had to endure the long distance to the car. And to make matters worse, I went directly the opposite way. I realised I was at the wrong direction when there was no housing neighborhood in sight, but commercial area instead. My upper legs felt so stiff and I couldn't imagine myself going down the same path again and possibly had to go even further. Through enough that's what happened. To make matters worse, I was so lazy tothink about my way home and set the myvi gps to home. It made me took the ldp route which was totally unnecessary. How on earth would it lead me home from there. Took the usj exit as soon as I saw it and it led me to kesas. Unnecesary 3.60 paid. So, turned waze on coz God knows where I was. Only then I managed to head back home.

I thought I won't be able to climb stairs but I was able to. My right toe nail is a bit weird, not sure if it's coming off. But it hasn't yet until now. My recovery workout is in the form of cycling stationary bike. As of wednesday, I still felt stiffness on the legs. But it all worth it, and I like it, at least I know ive worked out the muscles to its fullest potential.

Ive had few remarks that has made me smile from ear to ear. A legend, born to be a runner, a league of my own, karen has looked at me with a different kind of respect, the guy that I paced with for BSN PNM said he had trouble catching up with me. I hope I can only improvise from here. It's not that big to be proud of really, but I appreciate all those compliments. Hope for better races to come.
