Desa Park City Run 2013 - The Kids Dash

We got the Desa Park City Run flyer right after 2XU. i guess...boy...aren't we glad we did. At least for me though. It was one of the most enjoyable time for me, getting to expose the kids to what i have enjoyed and am passionate about.

The kids been counting days to the race day. The race pack collection day was already exciting enough. The real race day was surrealll...seeing all the cute kids started their run truly melted my heart. i started to wept the moment they were released...not sure whether there was gun or not. and I couldnt stop until it ended.

The race was really worth it. the kids got their running vest, bib number, certificates, and the most important thing is definitely the medal. Abang especially had lots of fun. Qays didn't comment much. Being a little kid that he is, he was kind of overwhelmed with the whole thing. He just got his school concert the day before, now he had to do a race, on his own....he always had Qaid behind his back. But in order to build Qaid up, i specifically gave the instruction that he can leave his brother the moment the race started and head towards the finishing line. Come to think of it, it was indeed too much for a four year old to handle. Good thing Qays attended the kindergarten, so he had some fair share of independence...the route involve 2 u turns....who can simply tell that you need to make a u-turn. then for those less independent, might constantly turn to check out their parents. I cannot even easily find the kids in the sea of kid runners, how can the kids easily find you. This is one of the reason that i wept as well, i cannot believe that my kids are big enough to handle races that way.

And abang was so good, he remembered his training (1 and only that we had) and my last advice to him, which is as follows:
  1. Don't speed all out at the start, you will just tire yourself out
  2. Never leave your brother. You can start to leave him after the starting time.
  3. Squeeze yourself to the front. Not very sure whether they did this, but they were quite at the front, so i guess it was not too bad
  4. Speed up once you see the finishing line. which he did, and had specifically reported it up.
Qaid especially cannot stop talking about it. He was so excited. Told him that i will enrol them for future races with medals, and he said he likes them both, with and without medals. that's the spirit abang, baru la anak mama.

Other friends have also specifically asked to tell them of such races. I had specifically informed my sister, but she was a wee bit too late. These kind of things, you can never wait at all. Must act really fast.

We met Zarah, only then did i know then that her hubs is an old boy. Good catchup for the dads i guess.

Too bad that there was a so-called stampede. Few kids fell down and my kids were right behind them. That was bad. And that has certainly delayed their timing. No wonder they reached quite later than they could have been. I know they are fast. They were behind thE incident. Qays almost fell. But he got back up real quick. He certainly didnt report much about it. Abang cudnt stop telling that there were girls crying from the stampede. Picture before and after proves it.

Qaid quickly stormed ahead leaving qays behind

And here's qays catching up...so cute

My only picture of the kids running to the finishing line

This was before, half an hour before event start

So overly joyed...can't wait for more races for them.
