The Scoben Takes South Korea - Day 6
We finally came to the end of the Korean journey (or at the point of writing this, Ifinally come to the end of my Korean recap). 6 days altogether, 2 major cities covered with total of 8 number of pax, mostly children.
We started to feel the withdrawal syndrome even before actually ending the trip. And most importantly because we missed a lot of our planned itinerary. Lucky Geoje has its own thing to be explored. So we went for a hike on our last day. Since Qaisar was asleep and we were sure that he won't be missing the excitement so much, we went on without him. But Naela was in for a ride. Her fist hike at 5 months. She celebrated her 5th month just a day earlier.
It was a mild hike, but it was a hike alright. And what I enjoyed the most was the trees, the less dense woods, unlike tropical woods. And most importantly because of the cool weather. We hardly sweat, and you can walk almost forever in that kind of weather. Our only problem was we didn't know the route much. And we may have missed some turns. So we went back and followed whoever that we bumped into. Hubs had tried to stop early and make our way back. But I was so determined to at least complete the supposed distance. The supposed distance should lead us to the pebbled beach and it will be up to us, which way to use for our journey back. We opted for the walkway along the beach.
To complete our coffee tasting in Korea, we concluded it with Tom n Tom. Overall we think Holly's is the best. It has that bitter coffee taste without overdoing the milk and the sweetness. And the kids and hubs had their final share of their Korean drinks, the banana milk. I don't understand their fascination as much. But my eldest certain find it very nice as he seldom drinks sweet drinks, except for this one.
Once done with the coffee, we sent the kids back and continued with our more no frills, straight to business mission of strawberries and persimmon hunting. The strawberries indeed tasted heavenly. We could have bought a lot but it wouldn't last the trip and the duration it takes to give to others. We walked high and low at first just to get to the market, and then carried the heavy stuff all the way back. Our total distance covered on the last day itself was aroound 14-19km. But one thing for sure, I totally love walking in the cold. I just fell in love with the cold. Carrying Naela almost all the time was no problem at all.
Then it was time to have the final packing and the dreaded time to leave. We had our lunch and luckily we still have the rented car with us, sp Tom used it to send us to the bos stop again. Yes, we reached there by bus, we left by bus as well. The bus timing is very punctual. We may have missed by a mere 1-2 mins and the bus has left. So we made our final shopping at the Lottee Mall, specifically for Maxim. I had no problem with 3 in 1 coffee then, but at the point of writing this, I have turned into a no 3 in 1 advocate. I won't say that I won't drink it at all, but I would definitely limit it if I can. After we got back, hubs ordered some more of the Maxim even. Apparently he has his fair share of people asking for it from his side.
The weather started to get cold on our last day. Tom predicted that the weather was starting to change again and the snow might come again. And that put the heaviness to leave even more.
The journey back was very dull indeed. To make matters worse, once we touched down and turned our phones on, we got the message that it was snowing in Geoje. And Qaid saw it. and he cried. And I totally understand his frustration. It was like, that was what it was about, the snow, and that was the one we couldn't have. So we made a silent pact that we would go again to where there will surely be snow. And in the meantime, we mend our hearts by watching the premiere for Star Wars, which coincided with our return to our our homesoil
So there you have it. I was never a fan for Korea, and I had certainly become one now. Hubs was even worse. He was still stuck with his Japanese fascination, which was true until early 2000, but it definitely got taken over. And only after the visit, that he acknowledged Korean's supremacy. Korea certainly has its charms. We don't mind coming back again. And the best thing was, we went as a family. All 6 of us. Even with the smallest one. I am the type of, it's either all of us or nothing at all. And I truly hope that we can carry on like this for as long as we can.
