KL International New Year Run 2017
As was in 2016, we entered ourselves into the same event again in 2017. And the kids were very excited about it as well.
The fees went up this time. It was only RM 140 the year before and it jumped to RM 220 in 2017. But we enrolled anyhow.
Anyways, we just got back from Holiday, hence we didn't really looked forward for the race initially. With the vacation hangover and not enough rest leading up to the new year, we were kind of obligated initially to just get it done. But the race ambience never fail to lift your mood up. And so everyone got excited once we were at the race venue. And we saw last year's winner as well. The boy with the sundown marathon vest. Couldn't remember what shirt he got on this year.
The crowd was so huge this year. the 10km and the fun runners were closely scheduled. So it was quite doubtful that we could make it again this year. More crowd=uncontrolled starting line. We just made our way to the front, and we were lucky enough that we were able to. As usual, when we were released, everyone simply just stormed off. We figured to just try our best.
Qaid was faster and Qays was surprisingly slower. So I was with Qaid and hubs was with Qays. I figured if I was up front, I would motivate qays to catch up with us even more. From time to time, I had to wait up and see what went on at the back. When it was almost the finish line, me and Qaid sped up, Qaid had a superb finish. I ran ahead, so I could catch a video of them. Once reached, we were surprise that we were potentially number 3. Lucky Qays wasn't that far. I went back into the race, fetched him and encouraged him to go faster, and a 3rd position was secured. It was unexpected, despite we had secretly hoped for it. But my kids were quite wise enough not to put their hopes too much, so getting it was really a bonus.
The good thing about this time was, there was a trophy. at least there's something to remember by. But there was no tags. I love potential winner tags. And there was official photo of us on the stage. Why not right. So all in all, it was a very good event for us again, hope to join again next year. Adios.
