The Captain America Pinata DIY
I swore that I will never do a themed party, but I succumbed to it anyhow. All due to the excitement of decorating the party with your DIY stuff.
As mentioned earlier on, I got guidance. Plenty of them. What I'm lacking though, are pics of my own invention. There just not enough time to do everything. I had 1 sleepless night...even then it's in between baby's feeding...had to stop once a while to nurse him. With the limited time that I have, what matters most, the pics of the DIY or the end product itself? Of course I had to focus on finishing the stuff
The Pinata.
I started it just a week before. Allah's will, Qaisar slept thru the earlier part of the night until it was almost bedtime for everyone, and I had to stop. But the main frame was ready by then. Mainframe, formed into a round shape using the box from the Cane's Green Tea bought in Tesco Melaka. I should have used a stronger and bigger box, to provide a firmer, non-distorted shape. And so that i dont have to connect so many parts. but I had to anyhow..cos that was the best available box that time.
The pix here is courtesy of stephaniecorfee, whom I have referenced the pinata DIY from. You can imagine mine was tinner and less firmer, with so much connections in between to form a complete round share. The pieces were overlapped with one another to provide a stronger adhesion, using masking tape.
I also used the small sized newspaper, hence i did not manage to cover the whole area. the idea is to have a sufficient round shaped pinata, so it cannot be too small can it. so what i did was, i overlapped the newspaper again, criss crossed shaped. I had earlier on taped it with masking tape, like how stephanie did, but it didn't stick too well with it. and there were some protruding edges. but it will be covered with the pinata designed papers anyhow, so u don't have to very particular with it.
And the job was done for the week, and was put off until a week later. The week later was when i had the sleepless night. and to my surprise, it was not that difficult to stay awake. 3 movies were played, until I had no idea what movie to put on next, to accompany me through the night.
multiple layers of papers put, to ensure the frame and shape remains firm.
The masking tape used earlier on didn't seem to work well, so I had used glue instead. the best is to cut slits, so it's easier to form pleats. this for me is quite important to wrap a circular shape. else, there will be bulges around the edges and will make the shape to look even worse

Stephanie used mod podge. I couldn't find it so i used the above type of glue instead. It's good. Sticky enough that it holds things, but easy to remove. so you won't have to be worried of the remains being stubborn to be removed from your hand.
After that, the body is ready to be added with additional strength. It should be strong enough to hold your party favours but weak enough for it to be broken. the form for me is important. The weight of the party favours can distort the shape up. so the excess paper was later glued again around the circles. again, it should be snipped to form pleats.
This is all i have of my WIP. the rest is only the finished product.
Did the same with the back side, starting from the bottom. up to the top, with
this is how it supposed to look like
this is how mine was..done with my bare hands from scratch
looked quite decent doesn't it.
this is another version of other people's. i think mine is better, taken from sunshineandasummerbreeze..but it's much easier to be done than mine. Good option for those pressed for time (as if I was not).
