MWM Training Cycle

Created March 15, 2014

Here goes the original post

The post will take a long time to finish. This is started 1 week before the race itself (10 days to be exact). But I know it will take some amount of analysis to be completed and since I was already analysing my Garmin, might as well I start doing it now.

Week 13 and week 14 have been 2 key weeks. 2 weeks of longest run, with easy steady short run prior to it. Really tested the endurance. Really tested the capable maximum speed. Really tested the evolutionary progress so patiently contained and nurtured. These are the weeks that really tested one's true limits before the actual peak in one's training cycle. With the same variables (time required and the type of workout), the distance covered and max pace capable at that time is a true measure of one's progress the week after. It's like a midpoint check whether things are actually in order. Or in my case, almost last minute check. My mid training cycle has been disrupted of some sorts, due to various commitments. But I tried to squeeze whatever that I possibly can nonetheless.

Easy long analysis
Week 13 - 2nd final long run. best average pace in a training cycle at 6:20, max pace at 4:37, cannot be happier
Week 14 - Final long run. Average pace was worse (6:21), but best pace was best long run max pace ever at 4:17

Short runs analysis
Week 13 - Average pace very good at 6:16 (not sure whether this is the best short run pace, so can't say that it's the best ever). Max pace at 4:30
Week 14 - Average pace plummeted so bad to 6:27. Mostly due to the late night the before over wolf of wall street. Felt groggy, but noticed that the best pace is better. true enough, it was at 4:02

More than 10 years after (10 years, 2 months to be exact), the post is still not posted.

In pursuit of the benefits of journaling, keeping record of the important things in life, past success and failures, here I am, trying to do some housekeeping.

MWM was still a very sweet experience indeed on which I will forever cherish. Memories still lives on even 10 years after. Failed mission due to the haze. I think it should be the only race ever that did not get to be concluded for a mere reason of haze. I can still remember the paths all clearly. From having a very minimal idea of Shah Alam roads back then, to fully grasp the roads of most corners by now.

10 years, 2 more kids, and from the unfulfilled desire of completing my first ever marathon, to having done quite a decent amount of it and had to put marathon mission on hold until an indefinite future now, this post finally got published
