Superheroes Race, Bukit Jalil 2015...and some long weekend happenings

Last week was one of the most blissful weeks. It was the week with the long weekend of 4 days total, it was the week with our team outing, making the whole working week to only be 3 days. Bliss.

We didn't plan on anything big too early on. Worst case, we can always go back to hometown. But lucky the hubs suddenly decided on going to JB, particularly to drop by JPO. After considering our options, whether to go down south or up north, whether to even consider on commuting considering the long weekend hence traffic would be super crazy, we finally decide; JB it is. But since there would Superheroes Race, it has to be short.

Despite the lack of mileage on that week, it's a week of good running progress. I had my Wednesday run (Wednesday run is always longer than normal, for a weekday definition) with William, outside the office. I have been struggling to keep my pace sub 7 as I progressed further with my pregnancy. The last was before MWM. After that I had to accept a 7 ish pace. But it somehow got into a 6:40 pace how cool was that. Many contributors of course, stressed out running with a much faster William, heavy and continuous flow of traffic that made you to jump up some speed to avoid them, but improved strength while progressing through pregnancy is also some. And that's what makes it even sweeter.

That was the last working day for the week. Even sweeter cause. We had our team outing the next day and for me it was less fun from normal. I would have loved if it involved some activities, but what we had was just some karaoke session and movies. I'm no big karaoke person, plus it will be against the decency level if I want to enjoy it more. But it was good anyhow, for  the fact that we can be off work. Had planned on running right after it, and since I had to make my way to USJ to pickup my repaired iPad Mini, it's a good time to try out the Subang Ria Rectreational Park beside SDMC. Never knew that there's a park so close by before, I could have spared myself from being chased by the dog few weeks back. The park is only a 1.1 km loop and I had 4 loops. It was a nice park, definitely look forward to try it out again some other time. But another good thing was, the pas was at 6:46 level. Another good running pace at my stage. Not anything to shout about for many, but good enough for me. I might have stopped running in my last pregnancy by then, so being able to run, and have improved the pace even, is very good for me.

As for the iPad, it didn't get repaired as good as I want it. But I did replace the screen. So much drama on that. I had to go there for 5 times in total.

We had a good long weekend. Started our journey to my hometown at night, after the traffic jam has cleared. Spent the night, quick catchup with the parents, depart for JB the next morning. We stayed at Mutiara Hotel. Spent almost 6 hours at JPO before that, got the kids some new shoes and football boots (Qaid been wanting to enroll into football clinic), and of course had our fried banana with sambal kicap fix at Mawar Goreng Pisang. We arrived quite late and already looked forward to have it, but somehow the shop said they will need to see whether there'll be enough for us. We had to be on standby. It was up to that extend. We managed to get in the end, and we ordered RM 10 worth of goreng pisang right away. There are only 2 big eaters and 2 small eaters in our household, so RM 10 is really big.

Our next must have food cation while in JB is of course the ZZ Sup Tulang. And it was good of Adrin and Pet to come to accompany us, had a good catchup with them there. Turned out, Skin and Amie was in JB as well, if we had planned better and our time coincides with one another, we would have been able to meet up as well. The Mee Rebus Sup Tulang were not as good as how we tasted it the first time. Probably since it was already late at night, the food was not as fresh or a bit diluted. We had few new options to tryout, maybe in our next JB Trip.
The next day was the journey back to KL. Had our must have Kacang Phool Haji for breakfast, and we wanted to try the famous Hua Mui Hainanese Chicken Chop as suggested by Adrin and Pet. But upon reaching there, the venue didn't seem very convincing. There was definitely no halal sign. We spent time in the car doing a quick research, but none gave us the amount of comfort. In the end, we decided to scrap the idea of having lunch there and headed to Restoran Singgah Selalu instead.

The next day was the Superheroes Race. The kids were up with no problem, but when we were about to go out, Qaisar got up. And got into the car right away. Ok, change of plan. Qaisar is coming as well. I quickly grabbed his diaper and change of clothe, something that matches the brothers. And not forgetting the baby carrier. Hubs was too lazy to bring the stroller.

There was other event there as well. And we had stopped at that other event. Being in the Fun Run category, our race pack collection could only be made the morning itself. So with our Just in Time timing, with the bib collection, that left us with only minimal time to spend. Kids especially Qaid was already anxious to start. Hubs was still busy putting on the baby Soft Structured Carrier (SSC) on. And I left him there on his own, haha, Bad wife. I want my kids to be competitive as well, since they had the passion to start and finish early, I should be encouraging that, don't I.

So we started off first. We tried to slow down, but hubs wasn't ready anytime soon, so we had to proceed. We weaved through other runners, The last run I had with them was during the Mutiara Damansara NYE Fun Run, and we managed to have control over the kids while weaving through runners separately. So that's what I did as well, only this time on my own, and in broad daylight. There were light traffic, so we had to be mindful on the traffic as well. However, after sometime, Qays seemed to be disconcerted. Qaid was still on fire. So I had to balance the two up. Qays did so well and so full of energy in NYE Fun Run, and it was total opposite this time. Good thing Qaid was quite understanding even when I had to slow him down, and many had overtaken us. It was better after the water station but it didn't get as good as it should have been.

Nonetheless, they still managed to sprint to the end, and that's what matters more. Upon reaching the finishing line, there was Cornetto ice cream given out. So that cheered them up. They were also quite consumed seeing all the other people with their fancy superheroes costume. Good kids they are. They were not pushing for having a costume like the rest. They went to the bounce castle. and after sometime, they started the giant bubble session. So they had fun. Objectives fulfilled and exceeded expectation. To get them exposed more to running and pushing their capabilities, medals and fun time.

As for the hubs, he reached not long after that and Qaisar was soundly asleep behind him. Qaisar was holding a piece of bun before the race started. He just hold it, but not really eating it. As told by the hubs, Qaisar dozed off during the run, until the bun fell off his hand. That somehow woken him up and he cried for the bun. So funny. Hubs had to pick it up, give it back to him to comfort him. Qaisar later on fell back to sleep, and the bun fell off again, and he was undisturbed until the run finishes. He woke up not too long at the finishing line, and managed to enjoy the giant bubbles with his brothers.

As for Nureen, they managed to make it. But they were a bit late. Lucky I met them at the finishing line and asked them to just register themselves, at least just to claim the medals and whatnots. The organiser somehow asked them to just proceed with the race, and so they did. They managed to finish it and everyone seemed to be happy. Feel good to have encouraged another friend, another family to the running community.

So that's how we had our long weekend. Weekend totally well spent, and another medal in check.
