The 9 to 5 Run and the Milo Breakfast Day Run 2015
Since I cannot run far, I run short and often. What better way than getting to do it with your loved ones. Just a week after the Superheroes Race, the fully occupied week of 9 to 5 Run and Milo Breakfast Day Run 2015 was up.
9 to 5 Run is a totally new run. The registration fee was very cheap. It made me quite skeptical to sign up initially, but a lot of other fellow runners did, so I guess why not. The registration fee was only RM 10 for 5km and RM 30 for a 10km. Both with medals. One of the cheapest available race event.
After having sidelined from races before May comes, May's races are anticipated with open hands. At least for me. And having few friends supposed to participate as well, makes it even more exciting. In the end, only Skin and her friend joined, the others didn't. And we only got to meet at the starting line, even that was a must, cause we asked Skin to help pick up the race pack for us. I asked her to start first, and she was no where to be seen still. The telecommunication line was so congested, no calls was actually possible. Even text messages was highly doubtful.
We started late of course. Skin was late to reach so we had to wait. But after seeing the number of runners at the starting line, we figured that it will be best to let it to cool off, and let the crowd spread out. And it turned out to be a wiser decision. Having started late, we didn't have that much difficulty to weave through other fellow runners (read walkers). Not long after that, rain started to pour down. I was having a constant braxton hicks that time, and the pressing on my bladder made it even more intolerable. But I managed it still. Due to those mishaps, I managed to run alongside the hubs. If not I would have leave him behind even earlier. At around 1.4 km to go to finish, he decided to let me go, and off I went, having my consistently build up pace. I knew it wouldn't save the time much, but at least I can save it from getting much worse. Close to the finish line, people were mostly casually walking towards the finishing line. Sprinted to the finish and was happy my quite a decent timing, given the earlier mishaps and the pregnancy stage that I was in (6:36 pace). Officially 7 months pregnant and my last race at this stage was the PBIM at around 7 months pregnant as well. The pace was 7:02 for a 10km with a time of 1:10. but that was with toilet break.
We missed our selfies with Abam KJ again. Not that I was so hung up on it. But since it's everyone's favourite now, to either selfie with the young and funky minister or catch a glimpse of him, having one would surely make many envious of me. There were just so many people who went after him, and I cannot be one of those tergedik-gedik longing for that picture of him. I have my own klass you know. There were so many booths, including DRB's which hubs had dropped by to say hi. As expected, saw quite a few familiar runners in the event. See, the race has attracted many parties.
Next day was the Milo Breakfast Day. It's been an annual event for me (1st one, right after my last maternity but without the kids), 2nd being last year and there was no medal. But the kids certainly looked forward for it. Despite no medal. And maybe because, we didn't bring them to a lot of fun runs then. This year has been quite a few, so they are kind of not that bothered with it seems.
After the Superheroes Race, Qaisar has made it into our good books to bring for fun runs. We brought the stroller this time. Bumped into hubs friend, had a quick warmup with the kids and off we went. I look after the elders and hubs the stroller. I moved on first, but along the way, not too long after starting, Qaid started to slow down. I suspected that he had sidestitch. Was a bit upset, was hoping that we could pull out an early timing like last year, where we were one of the first to reach. There were very less crowd last year, and we had the luxury of time to carefully pick our food. The 3km felt too long. Qays was on fire. He was quite upset that I had to slow him down as well. But it was not too bad as it was him who caused us our slow finish at the superheroes race, now it's Qaid's turn. So it was fair and square.
The breakfast was not as generous and nice like last year. The selection was quite limited and the quality wasn't as good as well. But...there were medals given out. I didn't expect to have any medals, as there was none for fun runners last year. So it was a very pleasant surprise. At RM 40 for the whole family, I won't complain much for the lack of the food quality or whatnots. We did stay quite long since as usual, the kids would always like to try out the games at the venue. When it was nothing much really. It was a long queue, just for football scoring game, which they didn't score as well. Met quite a bunch people there, which was a nice.
Back home, I noticed that we had more medals than we had signed up for. There were only 4 goodie bags, but there was 5 medals. Hope we won't be cursed for the lack of medals to be given, as it really wasn't our intention to have than we were supposed to. It can be considered Qaisar's first medal then, at the age of 2 years. Congrats Qaisar.
